Saved a Baby, Late to Work

I dreamed a couple of days ago that I was going to be temping in D.C. and I was going to take the Metro. I couldn't decide which station to take, but I eventually decided on Dunn Loring. I was going to meet my dad at the stop nearest the place I would be temping, and he was going to show me where it was.

When I got to the parking deck at the metro (note - in real life there isn't a deck at Dunn Loring) I saw a big, black SUV parked in the middle of the driving path. I suddenly remembered that my baby sister (note - in real life I only have one sister, and she is full grown) was missing, and I was worried that she was in that car. I opened my door and ran over to the SUV and opened its door. The inside of the SUV was filled with water, and my baby sister was in there completely under the water. I quickly grabbed her out of the water and drove her to the hospital. She ended up living, although it was a miracle because she had been under water. I was so glad that I had decided to take the Dunn Loring Metro, otherwise I would never have been able to save my baby sister.

I then realized I needed to get going to work, so I got on the Metro. I got to the station and met my dad, and we started walking to the place where I would be temping. I thought I wasn't supposed to be there until 1 PM because this place was only open for half a day on Fridays. I suddenly realized that I was wearing sneakers and that I needed to find nice shoes for work. There was some time, so my dad and I were shopping for work-appropraite shoes for me. Then I got a call on my cell phone from my temp company, and the lady said, "You missed your assignment."

I said, "I thought it didn't start until one."

She said, "It ended at one. You were supposed to be there at eight."

I suddenly felt really panicky and thought they would never ask me to go on another assignment. Then the lady said, "We are really disappointed in you. What are we going to do with you?"

I don't remember any more after that.

Can't Go Back to College

I had a dream afew days ago that I was back at UNCG, and I wasn't able to keep up. Since I can't really play the clarinet for long periods of time because of my crown, I wasn't able to practice and I didn't make Wind Ensemble. I didn't even make Concert Band. Dr. Burke would not even give me the time of day. I suddenly realized I was late for a concert. I was next to last chair in the last band, and I hadn't been to any of the rehearsals. I figured that I would be able to sight-read the music, though, because I thought it would be easy. It turned out that they didn't even have sheet music, that they were actually accompanying a chorus and that you had to play by ear.

Bad Dream

I had a bad dream that my old cat got so skinny that her fur and skin were gone between her ribs. You could see her internal organs and everything. We kept thinking that it was time to put her to sleep because it looked like a painful condition, but she seemed to be okay other than being a little more tired than usual. I wasn't ready to let her go yet, but I knew it would only be days before she would hurt her internal organs or get an infection. I had to start saying goodbye.

Marching Band

I have recurring dreams sometimes about being given another chance at an activity that I participated in when I was younger that I am now too old to do. For instance, I have dreams about being on the swim team again. I always am determined to do a better job than I did the first time around. I always feel more responsible and like I now have a better work ethic.

I had a dream last night about being in the high school marching band again. I was playing the tuba, and I was running around at the beginning of a competition looking for a neck and mouthpiece for my tuba. I eventually was able to borrow one from another school, promising that I would bring it back. When I got on the field, though, I remembered that I didn't know the marching drill (I didn't know where to go or what shape the band was supposed to be making) and I didn't know the music. Also, the other tuba player was gone, so it was up to me. At one point in the show, I realized that it was a follow the leader drill and I was the leader! I just started making a curvy line and everybody followed me. At the end of the show, I was trying to help the percussionists pack up and everything, and I suddenly realized that I had forgotten to take the neck and mouthpiece back to the other school. I felt so terrible because I knew that meant that one of their tuba players wasn't going to be able to play during their show.

The dream went on and on and it spawned another dream about a high school girl that was trying to get revenge on another girl. Everybody in the dream was a stranger. I just remember that the girl got revenge on the other girl by turning the girl's parents against each other. It was pretty bad.

Party Clothes

I dreamed that there was this club that you could join for $250 per month that would invite you to parties and there would be clothes appropriate for the party waiting for you when you got there. I dreamed that I was going to a swing-dancing party at this house, and when I got there, there was a bag with clothes and shoes in it that were just the right size. I put the clothes on, and I was thinking that I would never have picked these clothes for myself, but I was just happy that the shoes fit because it is so hard to find the right shoes for my big, different-sized feet. I felt good, and I was ready to enjoy the party.

Math Class

I had a really long dream, but I only remember part of it. I just remember being in a math class with my friends from high school. It was an advanced math class, but it was taught by my eighth grade algebra teacher. I remember we were reviewing some basic math concepts (FOIL), as they related to the new material. The strange thing about the dream was that a high school friend that has since passed away was in my class and she was fine. She was happy, smiling, and laughing at the teacher's jokes. I knew in my dream what had happened to her, but I was just glad that she was there. I was wondering why people were doing their math problems instead of talking to her.

Trying to Get Back

I also had another dream that I had forgotten about until I started to nod off earlier today, when I started to remember it. I had been dropped off on an island by a cruise ship, and I had been walking around town near the port. I was done, so I decided to take a charter boat to the other side of the island, which was supposed to be really interesting. It was quite a bit of hassle getting the boat ticket and making my arrangements to take the boat back in time to be on the cruise ship when it left, but I eventually got there. When I got there, a guide met me, and she took me up a huge hill to a building where the people lived on that side of the island. I don't remember much about them - just that they didn't speak English and that they were very different from me, but they seemed somehow European.

When it was time to leave, I was trying to find my guide, but I couldn't, so I went to a dock that turned out to be the wrong one, so I went back up the hill. I could then see the dock where we came in, and my guide came over to tell me that I would be departing from a different dock. I suddenly realized that I must not have tipped her enough, that this is why she was confusing me and not taking me to the right dock. Some old man then started to help me, but I didn't trust him, so I was looking for my guide to give her a bigger tip so that she would take me to where I needed to be. I ended up missing the boat back to the cruise ship, so I was trying to think of ways I could get to the next place the cruise ship would dock so I could get on it at that point. In the meantime, I also needed to find a way back to the side of the island with the port.

Clothes Library

I dreamed that I was at the Thomas Jefferson library in Falls Church, standing in line to check out my blue jeans. It turns out that the jeans I thought were mine were actually just borrowed from the library. I remember being a little worried that someone else would check out my clothes and I wouldn't have my favorite jeans anymore. I was also thinking that I needed to keep renewing the jeans so that I could keep them as long as I usually keep a pair of jeans (a couple of years). I was worried, though, that somebody might have put in a request for my jeans and that as soon as I tried to renew them, they would be taken away. I then thought about just keeping them and paying the late charges or "lost" charges, but then I remembered that it would cost extra money to do that.
