Dinner Party

I dreamed that my mom and I were invited to a dinner party with a neighbor that we didn't really know. He told us to show up at 5:30, but we left too early and ended up getting there at 5:00. We waited in the car for a while, but when it got closer to 5:30, I went up to the door and knocked. He came to the door and said he wasn't quite ready. I wanted to come in, but he kept stalling. Finally, at 5:30, I noticed that the tops of his ears turned pointy, and I realized he was a vampire and that he intended to dine on us. I felt so stupid for not seeing it before.

Dangerous Needles

I had a really long dream last night about this game where you are trying to get to a castle or something without stepping on any of these five-inch-long needles that are sticking out of the ground. The needles work like landmines, except since it is a game, they don't explode, they just alert the gamemasters that you are out. In my dream, I was only playing the game because the people I was with (Mike...?) wanted to play, but I actually ended up being really good at it.

At first, you are trying to get up a grassy hill, and the needles are about ten feet apart, so you could conceivably walk around with a low chance of stepping on one. However, I was being really careful and squinting to see if there were any needles before I took any steps. As you get closer to the goal, though, the needles get closer and closer together, and at the end, you have to walk on the points of your toes to avoid stepping on the needles. I woke up before I found out if I got to the goal or not.

Lots of Dreams

I had lots of dreams because I slept in so late, but not many of them were that interesting. One was about trying to get somewhere in Arlington and trying to decide whether it would be faster to drive or take the Metro. Another dream was about going on vacation with my immediate family and some cousins and trying to figure out who got to sleep where because there were only two beds, a futon, a sleeper sofa, and lots of floor space.

The one strange dream I had was about a house that this guy was luring young men to with a sign that said, "Free Food and Torch." Groups of young men were very interested in the free food and were coming in saying things like, "Cool dude. Free food rocks." The guy would feed them things like Buffalo wings and sandwiches, and then he would bring out this huge torch and spray them out of his house with fire that had the force of a fire hose. The guys would be on the ground at the bottom of the stairs that led to the porch, knocked out. Fortunately, nobody seemed to be badly burned, but they were hurt. The owner of the house would then start laughing and get on a motorcycle and ride really fast, still laughing.

Racing, Bombs

It is harder to remember my dreams than I thought it would be. I have been trying to post right when I wake up, but the dreams are forgotten so quickly.

Last night, I was having some really cool dream about racing, but I don't remember many of the details. I just remember that one challenge in the race was to take a dental impression in the parking lot of the dry cleaners on Graham Road. I was really excited because I thought my experience would give me an advantage and save me some time, but my impression turned out badly (one of the molars was missing) so I had to start all over.

I also dreamed about these frisbee-type bombs. They were flat rings that would sail through the air and then explode as soon as they hit anything. I remember thinking how dangerous they were and worrying that the people playing with them would start a major fire.

Waterslides and Late to Work

I dreamed that I was at this place where they had twleve different mazes that led to twelve different waterslides. The mazees looked like the maze on The Amazing Race last night. After you land in the pool at the end of the waterslide, you could go to the Cracker Barrel type of restaurant at the end. At one point, they were looking for a murderer, not unlike the episode of Crossing Jordan that I had recorded and watched yesterday.

I also dreamed that I was late to work because I was with Mike. I wanted to stay with him, but I knew I had to go. It kept getting later and later and I couldn't reach my boss on the phone and I couldn't seem to get my act together.

NMAI

I drempt that I was going to the National Museum of the American Indian opening with my dad and other people (it was never specifically said). In my dream, the museum stretched from The Mall to the Landover Metro, so the peope who worked there suggested that people use a bike or skis to get around. I wanted to bike, but I was talked into renting skis. I then had trouble finding the right size of skis, and when I finally picked something, I realized that I needed boots. It was hard finding ones that fit, but the little Asian man at the counter found something for me that he said would fit me. I then realized I had no socks, and my dad had some dirty socks in his bookbag that he told me to wear, but I went back up to the counter to get socks. The Asian man handed me a pair of socks that he said was clean, but they were just balled up and could have been clean or could have been dirty. I was thinking, "What if I get athlete's foot?"

Why?

I don't know why. It's just an idea I had. We'll see how it goes.
